The new team at the Riffelhaus 1853 in Zermatt

Jürgen Marx is the new host at the Riffelhaus, and he is joined by new head chef Alain Kuster. The Zermatt-based professionals will start their first season at 2,500 metres above sea level on 11 December 2020. Both have many years of experience in their respective areas of responsibility and are passionate about what they do.

Katrin Nägeli-Lüthi grew up in the rolling hills of the Emmental and discovered her love for the Alps in the Bernese Highlands. As the new Director of the Riffelhaus 1853, she now enjoys a wonderful view of the Matterhorn and is thrilled to be here in the heart of the Zermatt mountains

Stargazing on the Gornergrat

The Gornergrat is one of the best places in the Alps for stargazing. Up here at 3,100 metres above sea level, the night sky is indescribably beautiful. Due to the dry air and the seclusion, even the Milky Way and planets are visible to the naked eye.

Hotel Riffelberg is once again the Riffelhaus

The oldest hotel in the mountains of Zermatt has been completely renovated in time for the start of the 2014/2015 winter season and is also returning to its historical name. Hotel Riffelberg will once again become the Riffelhaus. The most famous mountaineers in the world stayed here. Its new director, Raymond Kronig, also has a deep personal connection to the mountains – his ancestors were alpine guides – as well as an impressive record in the hotel industry.
